One of the hottie qualities my husband had going for him when we were dating was that he owned a bunch of calves and a horse. I was major impressed with his little calf-raising hobby he had going on the side. We spent a lot of time during our engagement working together in the calf pens, and walking with his horse (no, not riding because one of us was always on crutches or injured...which is a long story for another time). When it came time to tie the knot, we had to say goodbye to the animals because it just wasn't practical for our apartment in town. If you only knew how I cried over this, you would really think I am nuts.

I like to embellish the story a bit and say that this makes me a 20-calf and 1-horse wife :)
Anyways, I totally owe him!! This summer we have worked like crazy to get the pasture ready, the fences up, and we bought a stock-trailer. Now that things are all in line, my hubby has had horse-fever like crazy! We are actually ready to get back into some serious animals (goats and chickens don't really rank as "serious"). Anyways, meet our new horse!!

He's registered with the name Ebony Pepper but neither have stuck quite yet. The kids are ecstatic, the hubby is thrilled, and I can't wait to get this baby out so I can start riding too.
